There are five key pillars to creating the conditions for adaptability: sleep, exercise, mental resilience, nutrition, and community/relationships.” - Dr Erik Korem “I maybe have a different concept on leadership. To me, leading is a verb. If you’re leading, you’re a leader. If you’re swimming you’re a swimmer, if you’re driving you’re a driver. If you’re leading you’re by definition a leader. I define leading as being looked to in a particular moment to make a decision or perform an action based on your unique gifts and abilities. So by that definition, everybody is a leader. All rank and role really describe is how many people are hoping you get it right when it’s your turn to wear the weight.” - Clint Bruce

Like cell components that are like just kind of dying or just old and then it kind of just recycles them or just completely gets rid of them. So it's kind of like a renewal mechanism.” 23:16 “Like, I get companies all the time are asking me like, you know, they're trying to make these autophagy products, and I'm like, no, sorry, I'm not interested. I just don't think we have enough information about this. You know, all the questions I was saying, like how much protein, like what should we put in the shake? Like, so we can call it an autophagy shake. And I was like, just don't do that.”* 26:20 “I'd say intermittent fasting either has like no effect usually on, on reproductive hormones, but it may actually benefit people with PCOS. But results are still to come.” 28:49 “So right now we only have like a couple studies in rodent models showing that are very similar to what we're seeing with the calorie restriction data. Like if you restrict yourself or a by like 20% of energy needs, they'll live 20% longer. If you restrict them by 30%, they'll live 30% longer up until I think a max of 30%. It's kind of like this mirroring effect. Crazy. When someone's pathological, right? But it also means compulsively driven. Like when we use it in the phrase pathological liar, okay? They just can't stop. It's like they, they know better, but they just have this compulsion almost to do it, right? 40:18 “It sounds crazy to consider what I'm proposing here, that you can choose a positive position no matter what your circumstances are. That sounds crazy. It does, but it's also going to the compulsively driven, it's a dogged determination to purposefully. Opt for the positive from a plethora of possible perceptions. You just do it on purpose.” 46:11: “But Live On Purpose Central is where we bring everybody together. I'm there every week doing. You can measure, they have more love, more gratitude, more confidence, more meaning in life. And I think it's because, when you look at the activities that most of us are drawn to, they either bring out what is best in us, you know, our courage, our creativity, our competitiveness, our persistence.” - Kelly McGonigal 20:09: “Every form of movement has a parallel to some sort of recreational or spiritual drug. You know, movement gives you an opportunity to tap into the brain's natural capacity to give you chemicals that make you feel good, that make you confident, that help you connect with other people that give you hope.” - Kelly McGonigal 20:30 “You mentioned endocannabinoids and the runner's high. That's one type of exercise high, and it turns out that if you engage in moderate-intensity movement continuously for about 20 minutes, your brain releases more endocannabinoids. And that along with things like dopamine and adrenaline. That gives you a very specific sense of feeling powerful and also loving.” - Kelly McGonigal 23:01 “Music gives you an endorphin rush and an extra hit of dopamine and adrenaline. So listening to music that you love enhances any exercise high. And also enhances, um, the bonding effect. Music also makes us feel more connected to others.” - Kelly McGonigal 24:53 “If you listen to music, You are going to require less oxygen to do the same amount of work. It's, it's kind of magical. It can help you be faster, it can help you be stronger. It makes hard things feel less effortful and also more enjoyable.” - Kelly McGonigal 32:25 “It's like you have a pharmacy in your muscles and they can create all these chemicals that, that improve your heart health, that boost immune function, that kill cancer cells that make your bones stronger. It's amazing. And some of these chemicals actually target the brain and your muscles wait for movement to release them. - Kelly McGonigal ABOUT THE BLUEPRINT PODCAST: The BluePrint Podcast is for busy professionals and Household CEOs who care deeply about their families, career, and health. But it all has this kind of unifying meaning of a higher power that creates purpose. And if we understand our source, It helps us to navigate all of the complexities of our life because it gives us meaning and purpose.” 32:30 “And this is why there are so many different religions and other philosophical practices out there as people try to gain purpose and meaning for life. You know, those classic questions, why am I here and where did I come from and where am I going? Right? I mean there are existential questions that I think drive all of the other key relationships.” 35:09 “And it's so interesting to me that two people can come together, love each other enough to reproduce, and then. When they split, there's a process that happens in the mind. It comes from cognitive dissonance.” 37:23 “So you get yourself in a good place, and then you step up to creation mode with that energy of gratitude for the rich, abundant marriage that you have.
